Planting 1 Billion Trees Movement in Indonesia



The Government of Indonesia has a movement to plant 1 billion trees. Ministry of Forestry believes planting of one billion trees in 2012 will be achieved, even exceeding the target. According to the Minister Zulkifli Hasan, the actual tree planting from January to October 2012 reached 732 million trees or already meets 70% of the target of 1 billion cigarettes. Expected target of 1 billion planting trees can be achieved until the end of December 2012. Program in 2012 reached 1.5 billion trees throughout Indonesia.

 On the occasion, Zulkifli said the city government has encouraged the development of green open space, thus creating a clean, cool, and beautiful. "It could reduce urban pollution due to transportation," said Zulkifli.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) on Wednesday (28/11, 2012) morning to attend Indonesian Tree Planting Day in 2012, which was centered in the area of ​​Forest City Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten. In the forest this airport, the President along with the rest of United Indonesia Cabinet II as well as senior government officials and ambassadors of friendly countries to plant at least 3,000 trees.

President planted trees Manglid (Manglieta glauca), First Lady Ani Bambang Yudhoyono planted Sempur (Dillenia SP), Vice President Boediono plant Tanjung (Mimusops elengi), wife of Vice President Boediono plant Herath Walnuts (Canarrium S), and the Minister of Forestry Zulkifli Hasan plant Cempaka (Michelia champaca) and wife Soraya Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan plant Kecik Sapodilla (Manilkara kauki).

The movement will continue to plant trees throughout Indonesia. Indonesia is one of the center of the world's rain forests. Indonesia has an important role in forest conservation and prevention of global warming. Are developed countries like the United States will also support to reduce the greenhouse effect caused by modern industry in the United States and other developed countries such as China and so on?
